Kothrud (Dist. Pune) – In Gosavi settlement of Dahanukar Colony, Kothrud, on December 8th at 2 a.m., Christian missionaries were attempting to convert poor Hindus by tricking them into accepting Christianity; but pro-Hindu organizations and alert youth foiled their plan and handed them over to the Police.

A Christian missionary group led by Gopal Ranadive and his wife Sister Asha Ranadive was trying to attract the poor to Christianity in Gosavi settlement near Dahanukar Colony. (Such converts keep their Hindu names and spread Christianity. Hindus should beware of such cunning Christians – Editor). This conversion attempt was being done through an organization called ‘Bandhanmukt Seva Karya’. Ranadive couple used to lure people and mislead them into conversion. They used to give people a special ‘Blessing Oil’. They claimed that this oil was effective against all health problems. (What does ANiS have to say about this ‘Blessing oil’ ? – Editor). A case has been registered against Gopal and Asha Ranadive.

Video showing attempted conversion

Local citizens and organizations have provided the relevant video evidence to the Police. In this video, they are seen giving people ‘blessing oil’ and claiming the grace of Jesus and pressuring people to convert to Christianity. In the past, such programmes have been held in places like Uttamnagar, Ramwadi, Warje, Rahulnagar, near Kothrud stand, Tejas Society, Prithvi Hotel premises. Activists of Hindu organizations have urged to take strict action against such incidents. Alankar Police have continued further investigation into the matter.

Editorial Perspective

A law to prohibit religious conversions must be passed as soon as possible to prevent these type of attempts.
