New Delhi – The Muslim community itself has started feeling that the functioning of the Waqf Board is like a mafia, and it has become a den of corruption, said Indresh Kumar, the leader of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Indresh Kumar further said ,
1. Courts have been taking decision about the ownership of any land in our country. But when it come to the decision regarding the ownership of Waqf land, how can the board itself make a decision ? If the Waqf Board gives a decision against this Bill, it is to be deemed final. It appears that many properties have been grabbed using this method.
2. If non-Muslims too have given land to the Waqf Board, then why not give them representation in the Waqf Board ? The 3 objectives behind this amendment Bill are to fix the responsibilities of the Waqf Board, to bring transparency in the functioning of the Waqf Board and to promote social harmony by appointing non-Muslims.
