Islamabad (Pakistan) – “Sikhs living in India often demand the return of Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara; but that cannot happen now. If they ask for Kartarpur Sahib from us in exchange for Kashmir, then it can be considered,” said former High Commissioner of Pakistan to India Abdul Basit. He was speaking in an interview to a Pakistani news channel. A video of his statements has been circulated on social media.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Modi while speaking at a campaign meeting in Patiala, Punjab, had made a statement that if he had been the Prime Minister during the 1971 war, he would have got back the Kartarpur Gurdwara in Pakistan. Basit made the above statement in response to that.

Editorial Perspective
All of Pakistan was a part of India and will be re-joined with India. Therefore, people like Abdul Basit should think of their survival instead of making such statements. |
