Mumbai – The producers and cast of the Hindi film ‘Hamare Baarah’ have received death and rape threats, prompting them to file a complaint at the Versova Police Station. These threats are reportedly due to the film’s commentary on Islamic practices and traditions. The film raises the question, “What is the correct interpretation of Islam ?” Directed by Kamal Chandra, the movie features veteran actor Annu Kapoor in a leading role.

The producers stated that their family members and friends are also receiving death threats. However, the Police have assured them saying, “You are in Maharashtra; nothing wrong will happen to you.” They mentioned that they made the film with great love and never imagined they would face such hatred.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Whenever someone speaks or writes about the Muslim religion, they directly receive death threats. Legal action is never contemplated. No political party, secularist, or pseudo-liberal speaks against this; yet they loudly proclaim that ‘Muslims are unsafe in India’.
  • Where are the defenders of freedom of expression now ? Is freedom of expression only applicable while criticising Hindu Dharma ?
