Bengaluru – The rape case filed against Shrimad Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami of Shri Ramachandrapura Math, Gokarna, has been quashed by the Karnataka High Court. Justice M Nagaprasanna delivered the order, noting a significant delay of 9 years in reporting the incident.
1. On 29th August 2015, the complainant had lodged a complaint at the Girinagar Police Station in Bengaluru, alleging that Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami had raped her at Girinagar in Bengaluru.
2. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) investigated the case and filed a chargesheet in court on 7th September 2018.
3. Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami had filed a petition in the High Court, seeking to quash the chargesheet and legal proceedings initiated against him.
