1. While announcing the imposition of reciprocal tariffs against various countries, US President Donald Trump showed a sign, which mentioned the imposition of 26% tariff on India. This sign had the names of several countries, and the percentage of tariff levied on them. At this time, Trump had said that India imposes 52%tariff on goods imported from the United States; but the United States will impose a tariff on India at a discounted rate of 26%.
2. However, official documents circulated by the Trump administration had mentioned a 27% tariff on India. However, according to the latest reports, it stands at 26%.
3. According to the experts, a 1% difference in tariffs will not make any significant difference to business.

The United States is India’s largest trading partner from 2021-22 to 2023-24, accounting for an estimated 18% of India’s total exports, 6.22% of imports, and 10.73% of bilateral trade.
