Accused of sexually assaulting numerous girls under the guise of ‘Ziyarat’ (pilgrimage) to the Dargah
Badaun (Uttar Pradesh) – A widow who was visiting the ‘Bade Sarkar Dargah’ was subjected to rape by Rahat, a shopkeeper within the Dargah complex. The victim, accompanied by her daughter, had come to pay her respects at the dargah. Following the assault, Rahat threatened the woman with dire consequences if she disclosed the rape. It has been reported that Rahat operates a shop selling chadars and sinni (sweet offerings) within the Dargah complex, and he has been accused of raping young girls daily under the guise of providing them treatment. The police have registered a case against Rahat after the widow filed a complaint.
The victim, a widow originally from Bijnor district, had been regularly visiting the Dargah in Badaun with her daughter for the past year. In her complaint, she recounted how 15 days ago, Rahat strangled her and forcibly took her to his room where he raped her. Despite her resistance, Rahat subjected her to physical violence and verbal abuse. The victim attempted to scream, but Rahat silenced her by covering her mouth with a cloth. After the assault, Rahat threatened the victim with grave consequences if she did not do what he told her to do in the future, instilling a deep fear for her safety. The victim expressed concerns about her life being at risk due to the threats made by Rahat.
The complaint also mentions that the rapist, Rahat, was openly bribing the police.
The complaint includes a significant allegation by the victim, stating that Rahat openly bribes the police. In response to this serious accusation, a representative from ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ contacted the Additional Commissioner of Police, Badaun, Amit Kishore Srivastava. Srivastava confirmed that the allegation is under investigation, emphasizing that if found to be true, appropriate action will be taken. This underscores the importance of thoroughly investigating any claims of corruption within law enforcement to uphold the integrity of the justice system.

It would not be surprising should someone demand burying the accused up to the waist and stoning them to death per Sharia law. |
