The Prime Minister of Israel responds defiantly to the warning from the US against supplying weapons.
Tel Aviv (Israel) – US President Joe Biden said that he will not send Israel bombs and artillery shells to attack the southern Gazan city of Rafah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to launch a ground invasion of the city “with or without” a deal with Hamas.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said “if we have to stand alone, we will stand alone. If we need to, we will fight with our fingernails. But we have much more than fingernails.”
Netanyahu emphasized –
1. Our ultimate strength stems from unity, and with divine assistance, victory is assured.
2. In the War of Independence 76 years ago, we were the few against the many, he said. We did not have weapons. There was an arms embargo on Israel, but with great strength of spirit, heroism and unity among us – we were victorious.
3. While past agreements with US have been significant, occasional differences arise. Yoav Gallant, Mr Netanyahu’s defence minister, dismissed the US warnings, saying Israel’s “enemies as well as … best of friends” should understand that his country “cannot be subdued”.
Editorial Perspective
A geographically small country Israel that is surrounded by Islamic countries is steadfast in the face of adversities. It indeed sets a remarkable example for India and Indians. |
