A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against a ‘blatant attempt’ being made to take away the fundamental rights of Muslim women to practice their religion, all in the guise of providing a ‘uniform law’ across all faiths.
Wasif Hasan has said in his petition that the ‘purpose of the petition is to create an enmity between communities on the basis of religion. There has also been an attempt to show that foreign invaders have demolished religious places in India.
Former Shia Waqf Board chairperson Syed Waseem Rizvi filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking removal of 26 verses of the Quran. In his petition, Rizvi has stated that the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, has “some verses that are used to promote terrorism, violence, jihad”.
