Seeks direction to drop verses from the Quran that promote terrorism

In India, a country governed by law and order, how is such a fatwa passed? If Rizvi has gone to court, why is he not being challenged in the court? This shows that the religious fanatics who have passed the fatwa have scant respect for the Indian judiciary.

India has given Freedom of thought to all. If Rizvi feels that something must be done to stop terrorism and files a petition for that, it is up to the court to grant him justice.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – Former Shia Waqf Board chairperson Syed Waseem Rizvi filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking removal of 26 verses of the Quran. In his petition, Rizvi has stated that the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, has “some verses that are used to promote terrorism, violence, jihad”.

The petition has created a wave of resentment among the Muslims. Islamic Cleric Hasnain Jaffrey Dumpy, the national president of Islamic organization, Shiane-Haider-e-Karrar Welfare Association, has announced a bounty of Rs 20,000 to anybody who beheads Rizvi. He has also called for a social boycott of Rizvi. He also said that those who contact Rizvi or invite him to their homes will also be boycotted.
