Jaipur (Rajasthan) – In a significant case related to the 2008 Jaipur bomb blasts, a special Court has found four jihadi terrorists guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment. Their names are Sarwar Azmi, Shahbaz Ahmed, Saifur Rehman and Mohammad Saif. Interestingly, even after the sentencing, all the convicted terrorists walked out of the courtroom smiling, showing no sign of fear or remorse on their faces.(Jihadi terrorists knowingly and deliberately carry out attacks against Hindus as part of their so-called jihad for their religion. Therefore, such terrorism cannot be curbed merely through executions – action must also be taken against those who teach jihad and the literature that spreads it ! – Editor)

What is the case about ?
On 13th May 2008, a series of 8 bomb blasts occurred in Jaipur, resulting in the deaths of 71 people and injuries to around 200 others. At the same time, a ninth live bomb was found near a guest house in Chandpole Bazaar. It was successfully defused. A separate case was registered regarding this incident. The above-mentioned accused were found guilty and sentenced in this case.
Rajasthan High Court had acquitted the terrorists in the main blast case
In the main bomb blast case, a special Court had initially found all the accused guilty and sentenced them to death. However, on 29thMarch 2023, the Rajasthan High Court acquitted all the accused, stating that the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) failed to present concrete evidence and could not prove any conspiracy behind the blasts.
After several flaws were found in the investigation, they were corrected, and a supplementary charge sheet was filed. The current sentencing pertains to the live bomb case. Meanwhile, an appeal is pending in the Supreme Court against the High Court’s verdict to acquit the accused in the main bomb blast case. (It is baffling that those convicted in the live bomb case are acquitted in the actual bomb blast case. Did the Police investigation fail, or is there something more ? The public deserves an answer ! – Editor)
