Kolkata (Bengal) – A Shriram Navami procession in Kolkata’s Park Circus Seven area was reportedly targeted by stone pelting at vehicles carrying saffron flags, as stated by BJP MP and Union Minister Sukant Majumdar.
Union Minister Majumdar took to ‘X’ to express that the incident in the Park Circus Seven area was not an accident but an act of targeted violence. He raised concerns about the police’s lack of action, questioning their presence and response during the event, particularly highlighting that the police force had been selected by Mamata Banerjee. They have been completely crippled by the politics of appeasement. Not a single step has been taken to protect innocent Hindus. We assure the people of Kolkata that next year, we will organize a larger and more magnificent procession for Sri Ram Navami in Park Circus, and the same police force that remained silent today will extend their support by showering us with flowers.

In response to the BJP’s allegations, the Kolkata Police stated that no permission was granted for any procession, nor did any such activity occur in the area. They further clarified that upon receiving information regarding the damage to the vehicle, they promptly intervened and took steps to restore order.A case has been registered to investigate the matter. People should not pay attention to any rumors.
Responding to the police’s statement, BJP leader Tarun Jyoti Tiwari questioned, ‘Is permission required for any activity in Park Circus ? Was permission sought for the meeting held here to protest the Waqf Amendment Act ?’
