Turning the sorrowful journey of divorce into a celebration of freedom
(The Divorce Ring refers to the ring of separation) |
New York (USA) – With the escalating cases of divorce, individuals who once saw divorce as a major setback in their lives are now contemplating, “How can I face society ?” This thought has plagued the minds of many. However, after going through a divorce, people are now adopting a self-centered perspective, thinking, “I should live my life the way I want,” and thus, events like divorce or separation are now being celebrated as a “ritual.” Over the past few years, incidents like “divorce parties” were common, but now they have taken on a new form, known as the ‘Divorce Ring.’ American actress Emily Ratajkowski has brought this issue to the forefront.
Emily stated, “I recently replaced my wedding ring with a ‘Divorce Ring.’ I filed for divorce from actor-producer Sebastian Bear-McClard in 2022. My divorce ring symbolizes my personal representation of my life. After a divorce, when a woman moves on from a man, she no longer needs to wear a diamond ring on her finger, in my opinion. Instead, you can replace your ring in the form of a ‘Divorce Ring.’
A powerful form of self-expression
Many jewellery stores in New York have been making jewellery representing ‘breakups’ and divorces for customers for the last 2-3 years. Many in the Western countries believe ‘Such jewellery is a powerful form of self-expression’. Earlier, even if the husband and wife suffer mental and physical stress from each other, abuse, unavailability of time, etc., the husband and wife used to stick to the marriage or relationship; But now many things have changed.
What Are Divorce Rings ?
“Traditionally, engagement rings and wedding rings symbolize the commitment and union between partners, says Rachel Akmakjian, Director of Jeweler Relations at BriteCo and Graduate Gemologist. “‘Divorce rings’ are seen as a way to mark the end of a marriage and celebrate newfound independence.”
