Death of abducted Indian student in Ohio (USA)

A ransom of Rs 1 lakh was demanded from the father in India, kidnapper threatened to sell his son’s kidney if the money was not paid

Mohammed Abdul Arfath, a 25-year-old student from Hyderabad, who moved to the US in 2023 to pursue his master’s from Cleveland State University was found dead in Ohio’s Cleveland. Credit- News18

Columbus (USA) – A 25-year-old Indian student named Muhammad Abdul Arafat has died in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He hails from Bhagyanagar and has been missing for the past 3 weeks. According to the Indian Embassy in New York, Abdul was abducted by drug dealers. The kidnappers also allegedly demanded a ransom of one lakh rupees from his father, who lives in India. Parents were also threatened that if the money is not received or the police are informed, Abdul’s kidney will be sold. This is the 11th incident where Indians have been killed in the US in recent times.

The Indian embassy in the United States has expressed sorrow over the incident and stated, “In this time of grief, we stand with their family. We are closely monitoring the case of Abdul. His mortal remains will soon be sent to India.”
