
Bengaluru – State Social Welfare Minister HS Mahadevappa has passed an ordinance. As per the ordinance, the celebration of religious festivals in schools and colleges under residential educational institutions is henceforth banned. According to this ordinance, now only national festivals, State festivals and birthdays of dignitaries will be celebrated. It has been said that ‘Gudhi Padwa, Ramzan, Christmas, Eid, Makar Sankrant, etc. should not be celebrated’. A warning has been given that if religious festivals are celebrated, disciplinary action will be taken against the headmaster and Principal. Celebrating 10 national festivals and anniversaries includes Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Kannada Rajyotsava, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Valmiki Jayanti, Kanakdas Jayanti, Basav Jayanti, Constitution Day and Yoga Day.
