Withdraw the aid of Rs 31.54 crore for the protection of Waqf properties : HJS

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s demand to Karnataka’s Congress Government

Mr Mohan Gowda, State Spokesperson of HJS

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has opposed the order issued by the State’s Congress Government for the protection of Waqf property and demanded financial provision for the protection of temple lands. The State spokesperson of the HJS, Mr Mohan Gowda stated that, the Congress Government’s sanctioning of Rs 31 crore 54 lakhs for fencing Waqf property is highly condemnable.

Mr Mohan Gowda added,

1. In the recent times, the Karnataka Government is clearly seen making substantial provisions for minorities under the guise of their development. Earlier Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced a grant of Rs 10,000 crore for the minorities.

2. Last December, Rs 1,000 crore were given for creating settlements for minorities. In the budget, Rs 60 crore were allocated for minority students. Not only this, but Rs 11,000 crore worth of grants for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were spent to fulfill selfish election promises.

3. A scheme was also announced to give a grant of Rs 3 lakhs for minorities to purchase four-wheeler vehicles.

4. In 2009, Waqf properties in the country were 4 lakh acres, which have now increased to 8.52 lakh acres due to illegal private and Government land encroachments. In this situation, fencing these lands will make these encroachments authorised and create problems. Hence, this should not be allowed. The Government should immediately cancel the money allocated for legitimising the properties illegally acquired by the Waqf Board.

5. Thousands of crore worth of lands under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment Department have been encroached upon. As there has been no survey of these lands, their current status is unclear. The Government must sanction funds for the protection of these lands.

Editorial Perspective

Such actions are like the Pakistani regime ! Congress Government never allocates a penny for the Hindu temples. It is a pity for Hindus of Karnataka.
