Ladakh – Recently an argument broke out between the shepherds of Ladakh and the Chinese soldiers near the China border. The shepherds had taken the sheep for grazing in the border area, when the Chinese soldiers stopped them. The shepherds appropriately retorted that they were standing on the Indian soil.

This is the first time after the Galwan incident of 2020, that the local shepherds have asserted their right on the land, and asked the Chinese soldiers to move out of that area. Chushul village’s Councillor Konchok Stanzin posted the video of this dialogue on social media. He posted, ‘See how our local people are showing their bravery in front of the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) claiming that the area they are stopping is our nomad’s grazing land. PLA stopping our nomads from grazing in our territory. I salute our nomads, who always stand to protect our land and stand as the second guardian force of the nation.’

Konchok has also thanked the Indian Army for helping the shepherds and nomadic communities by reclaiming their land

There had been a bloody battle between India and China in Galwan on 15th June 2020. In this skirmish with the Chinese soldiers, 20 Indian soldiers died, while more than 40 Chinese soldiers were killed.

Editorial Perspective

This a sign that Indians have given up the earlier defeatist attitude and charged with nationalistic attitude, they are ready to face the challenges.
