
Kochi (Kerala) – Somali pirates hijacked an Iranian-flagged fishing vessel off the west side of Kochi, at 700 nautical miles. Indian Navy deployed its warship, INS Sumitra for rescuing this Iranian vessel, M V Iman. There were 17 crew members on the ship.
‘Dhruv’ helicopter carried by the Indian warship sieged the Iranian vessel and asked the pirates to put down their weapons and move back towards Somalia. Later, the Indian Navy rescued all crew members.
