Prayagraj (UP) – While hearing a case, the Allahabad High Court expressed disapproval over ‘live-in relationships’. Justice Shamim Ahmed stated that India is not a Western nation where such things are common. He emphasised the need for Indians to take pride in their own culture and traditions.
An individual named Ashish Kumar had filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court stating that he had been in a relationship with a woman since 2011. Kumar also submitted the photographs of the two in this regard to the Court. He alleged that the woman’s family has her confined at home and the two are not allowed to meet.

On this, the Court questioned, “Why the couple did not marry after supposedly being in a relationship for thirteen years ? This is an attempt to defame the image of the girl and her family by showing the photographs in this way. The Court will not hear such cases.”
Therefore, the Judge rejected the petition and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on petitioner.
