Mumbai – “Jitendra Awhad’s objectionable statement about Deity Shriram is deplorable. Jitendra Awhad is an example of how one’s intellect gets deluded by getting elected in Mumbra and throwing Iftar parties all the time. A case should be registered against Awhad for hate speech, otherwise, Hindus will take to the streets”, warned Mr Ramesh Shinde, National spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

Mr Shinde added, “Jitendra Awhad never has any problem with other religions, but he consistently uses offensive language about Hindu Deities. No action was taken against him even when he used such language in front of Sharad Pawar. This means that Jitendra Awhad’s statement has the full support of the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP. Jitendra Awhad asks what food Deity Shriram consumed during his 14 years of stay in the forest and assumes that ‘there is no vegetarian food available in the forest’. He forgets that several vegetarian animals live in the forest. Fruits and tubers are also available in the forest. Awhad has defamed Hindu Dharma through his statement. We condemn Jitendra Awhad who made such a controversial statement about Deity Shriram at a time when the inauguration of Shriram temple is only a few days away. The Police should take immediate action against him.”
