Chandan Gupta’s family was neglected
Chandan Gupta’s father Sushil Gupta informed –
- His family was provided police protection for a year after which it was withdrawn. His elder son Vivek is the eyewitness in this case. Sushil Gupta used to work as a medical representative earlier but out of fear, he had to leave his job. Many times, his family has received threats. He has the responsibility of running his house; so also, of his daughter’s marriage.
- Out of 29 accused in Chandan’s murder case, 28 accused have been released and granted bail by the High Court. The accused are financially sound; therefore, they can fight the case as long as they want.
- There used to be 3-4 persons attending the hearing in Court while 100-200 people used to attend in support of the accused, trying to create pressure. Gupta paid for their legal fight in the High Court and requested for its transfer to Lucknow. Now, they can go for hearing without any protection.
- There were more than 6 witnesses in the Chandan murder case; but barring a few, others have withdrawn from the case as witnesses. Now, his son Vivek, is the only eyewitness in the case; therefore, he is worried about his security.
- Many promises were given to them after Chandan’s death. It was promised that his daughter would be given a job and a chowk in the city would be named after Chandan. His daughter has completed M. Sc. She was locally given a job but it ended after five months. After the murder, the Government had given aid of Rs 20 lakhs to the family which is being used only for paying legal costs.
- The people, who are being sent to us for closure of this case, are Hindus. They come to us with different proposals and lures. My son is not alive; I am also ready to die; but the guilty should be punished. I will fight till my last breath, stated Sushil Gupta.
