HR head of anti-India news portal ‘NewsClick’ moves Court to turn approver

New Delhi – An online news portal NewsClick has been accused of accepting bribes from China to spread anti-India propaganda. Prabir Purkayastha, the founder of the NewsClick, and Amit Chakravarty, the HR head, were arrested in this case. Amit Chakravarty has expressed willingness to turn approver in this case. He has moved to Court seeking its permission in this regard. NewsClick received ₹38 crore from Chinese Communist Party propagandist Neville Roy Singham.

Amit Chakravarty told Delhi’s Patiala House Court that his news website spread anti-India propaganda by accepting bribes from a Chinese agent. The site was also involved in spreading ideology detrimental to India’s sovereignty.

Chakravarty and Purkayastha were arrested by the Delhi Police on 3rd October. Earlier, the Police had raided some places in Delhi. Following that, both of them were arrested.

This matter came into the limelight after the New York Times in the US first published about NewsClick’s activities.

NewsClick published hateful content about Sanatan Sanstha

Newsclick has repeatedly published content against Sanatan Sanstha. While reporting on the Dr Dabholkar murder case or the Pansare, Kalburgi, and Gauri Lankesh murder cases, NewsClick had spewed venom against Sanatan Sanstha several times by mentioning the latter as a ‘terrorist organisation’. Investigating agencies in India must also investigate whether the propaganda that was going on against the Sanatan Sanstha and many other Hindu organisations was sponsored by China.
