Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in damage control after opposition from Hindu organisations

Mysuru (Karnataka) – “We have not yet lifted the hijab ban in the State. A question on hijab was asked for which I said we are considering lifting the ban on wearing hijab (in schools and colleges). We will discuss at the Government level and then take a decision”, such a damage control stance was taken by Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister of the Congress Government in Karnataka. Two days ago, Siddaramaiah announced the lifting of the hijab ban in educational institutions. Faced with opposition from Hindu organisations, he provided the aforementioned justification to do the damage control.
Siddaramaiah had said, “Wearing of hijab in educational institutions, choice of dress and food is personal”. Therefore, the discussion of the lifting of the hijab ban in educational institutions started.
