Karnataka Congress Minister Priyank Kharge’s hateful statement about Swatantryaveer Savarkar
Bengaluru (Karnataka) – “If it was in my hands, I would have removed Savarkar’s photo from the Legislative Assembly. Savarkar is not a Veer at all, and I’m challenging that”, stated Karnataka Congress leader and minister Priyank Kharge in a press conference held at the Congress office.
Kharge further said, “Let the BJP tell how Savarkar got the title of ‘Veer’. Who gave Savarkar the title of ‘Veer’ ? Let the BJP tell that Savarkar was not taking a pension from the British”. (Who gave the title ‘Mahatma’ to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi ? Congress should tell that first – Editor)
Meanwhile, BK Hari Prasad, Congress MLC who backed Priyank Kharge’s remark said, “Savarkar’s contribution to the freedom struggle is zero. When BJP was in power, Savarkar’s photo was put up in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. BJP wants to change history”. (Not the BJP, but Congress wants to change history and it has changed it during its rule. Now efforts should be made to fix it – Editor)

We will strongly protest the removal of Savarkar’s photo – BJP
Responding to Kharge’s statement, BJP MLA Bharath Shetty warned, “Priyank Kharge is ill-informed. He thinks he is one of the most educated people, but he is the most uneducated person in the assembly. If he tries to do so (remove Savarkar’s photo), protests will not only break inside the assembly but also outside.”
No proposal to remove photo of Savarkar – Assembly Speaker
Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader said, ”I do not know anything about removing the photo of Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Savarkar from the assembly hall. There is no such proposal before me”.
Editorial Perspective
No matter how much the Congress hates Swatantryaveer Savarkar, his significance remains undiminished. Conversely, over the past 75 years, the Congress has been steadily approaching its political demise. |
