This scheme will be most beneficial to Muslim students
Mumbai, 23rd November – One more new scheme, ‘Foreign Scholarship’ has been introduced by the Government of Maharashtra. This scheme will enable minority community students to pursue post- graduation and PhD abroad. Under the scheme, 27 students from minority community will be able to go abroad for higher studies every year. The benefit of this scheme will be given according to the proportion of the minority community in the population. Since Muslims are in a large number as minority community in the State, they will get the maximum benefit.
This scheme is run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Students belonging to the minority communities of Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, and Zoroastrian (Parsi) can avail it. Rs 120 crore are allocated for the scheme by the Government (Q. S. Education can be received in any one of the 200 listed Universities in the world.
Muslims constitute the highest percentage among minority communities in Maharashtra
The benefit of this scheme can be availed according to the year 2011 census. According to this census, Maharashtra minority number is 2,22,65,487. In this minority population 58.15%, which means 12.97 lakh are Muslims. The result is, out of every 27 students, 15 students will be Muslims. 7 from Buddhists and 1 from each of the other minority community students can get the benefit.
