India making a defence system ‘Kush’ similar to Israel’s Iron Dome

New Delhi – India is becoming self-sufficient in implementing various systems in the defence sector. The crucial part of this is that India is preparing its own defence system against the backdrop of Russia’s S-400 Air Defence System and Israel’s Iron Dome. This project has been named as ‘Kush’ and this Indian-made system will be ready by 2028-29. Through this, it will be possible to destroy enemy missiles and bombs in the air itself.

According to the agreement between India and Russia in 2018, India has purchased five S-400 Air Defence Systems at a cost of Rs 45.2 thousand crores. Out of these, three systems have been supplied to India so far and the remaining systems will be supplied soon. These defence systems are capable of operating up to 400 kilometres in diameter. Currently only four countries have the S-400 Air Defence System. Russia has sold these systems to India, China and Turkey.

Features of the ‘Kush’ protection system

The ‘Kush’ defence system is capable of operating up to a radius of 350 km. If enemy warplanes, missiles or drones enter such a large area, this system will be activated immediately and hit the relevant target. Since this system is working for such a long distance, it will also get enough time to distinguish the target accurately. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is building this system.
