Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced that Muslim girls can wear hijab for the Job Recruitment Exams, which will be held on coming 28th and 29th October. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and all other Hindu organisations protested this at Freedom Park on 25th October. At this time, Mr Sharat Kumar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Mr Santosh Kechamba of Rashtra-Dharma, devout Hindus Mr Raghavendra, Mr Vishveshwaraiya and many other activists were present.

Karnataka Government must revoke the decision immediately

Mr Sharat Kumar of HJS said, “This issue had come up earlier also. Considering the seriousness, Karnataka High Court had banned hijab and approved of wearing school and college uniforms. If hijab is allowed for Job Recruitment Authority Exams, it is contempt of Court. It only shows Muslim appeasement by the State Government. State Government and Karnataka Government Job Recruitment Authority must withdraw this decision immediately”.

Mr Santosh Kechamb said, “High Court had studied deeply about hijab and declared that hijab is not allowed under any pretext. Even after this decision, State Government gives such permission, which hurts religious feelings. It can create discord and will affect children’s studies adversely”.

Editorial Perspective

It may be noted that on 15th March 2022, a three-Judge Bench of the Karnataka High Court comprising Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justices Krishna Dixit and JM Khazi upheld the ban on the hijab in the State’s educational institutions.
