NIA’s raid in Malegaon
Malegaon (Maharashtra) – In the early hours of 13th August, a team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Gufran Khan Subhan Khan, a resident of the Mominpura area in Malegaon city and associated with the Popular Front of India (PFI), and interrogated him for 5 hours at the city Police Station. He was later released and told that he would be called again for questioning.
1. A few months ago, a suspect linked to the PFI was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
2. Gufran Khan Subhan Khan’s house was raided around 4.30 a.m. and he was taken into custody and then to the city Police Station for further questioning.
3. Gufran allegedly had contact with someone in a foreign country through a mobile phone and is a suspected member of the PFI organisation and is involved in providing physical training to jihadi youth.
4. Earlier, NIA officials had raided and arrested some Jihadi activists associated with PFI. Subsequently, one was arrested meanwhile for aiding terrorist organisations. Gufran was also an accused in a case registered against PFI organisation in Malegaon last year.
5. It is not yet clear whether any objectionable documents have been found during the raid.
