Imphal (Manipur) – ‘Kuki People’s Alliance (KPA)’, a party of Kuki Christians has declared withdrawal of its support to the ruling National Democratic Front (NDF) Government. The MLAs met the Governor at night on 6th August 2023 and submitted a letter to him. It is stated in the letter that their supporting the ruling party has no meaning considering the ongoing ethnic conflict in the State. There are two MLAs of KPA in the State Assembly.
It is said that all ten Kuki MLAs, including these two, would boycott the forthcoming session of the State Legislative Assembly. Seven Kuki MLAs out of these ten are from BJP. These MLAs claim that they had to take such a decision due to the continuous violence going on in the State. BJP MLA L M Khaute of Churachandpur, the most affected District due to violence, stated that he would not be able to attend the Assembly session considering the prevailing law and order situation. He would not be participating in the session because Kuki’s demand for a separate administration has not been accepted.
