Threatened to implicate the complainant in a false rape case and kill him

Udupi (Karnataka) – Udupi City Police have arrested a Muslim woman, Zeenat Ibrahim, on charges of cheating a complainant of ₹70 lakh by luring him with the promise of investment in real estate, and of threatening to implicate him in a false rape case and kill him in order to extort money. She is a resident of Kanchinadka near Padubidri in Kapu taluk. It is alleged that instead of using the ₹70 lakh given by the complainant to purchase land, she used the money for personal purposes.
According to the complaint, when the complainant demanded the return of the money he had invested, Zeenat demanded additional money. She also allegedly threatened to circulate a private video and implicate him in a false rape case if he failed to pay the additional amount. The Court remanded her to five days’ police custody. The Police have appealed to other citizens who may have been cheated in a similar manner to come forward and lodge complaints.
