Four religious fanatics arrested for slitting a cow’s throat

Shivamogga (Karnataka) – Police have arrested four accused in connection with the case of slitting a cow’s throat near Pataguppa Bridge in Hosanagara taluk of the district. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Salim Balur, Makbool Ahmed Badiger, Suleiman Kolari and Mallik Rehan. All of them are residents of Akki Aluru village in Hangal taluk of Haveri district.

Some miscreants had slaughtered a cow and a calf near Pataguppa Bridge close to Hoskoppa village in Hosanagara taluk with the intention of selling the meat and fled the spot. Based on a complaint lodged by Hosanagara Police Station officer Gopalakrishna, a case was registered under the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. A Special Investigation Team was thereafter constituted to investigate the case.

Editorial Perspective

Such stringent punishment should be imposed on these accused that no one would dare commit such an act ! Of course, since Karnataka has a Congress Government that is sympathetic towards Muslims and has released terrorists, there is reason to doubt how far the Government will go in ensuring stringent punishment for these accused !
