Taj Mahal should be surveyed to establish that it is ‘Tejo Mahalaya’ !

Hindus file petition in the Prayagraj High Court, claiming to have 109 pieces of evidence

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) – A petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court seeking a survey to establish that the Taj Mahal is ‘Tejo Mahalaya’. The petition has been filed on behalf of Bhagwan Shri Agreshwar Mahadev Nagnatheshwar Virajman by five petitioners, including Advocate Pujya Hari Shankar Jain and Ranjana Agnihotri. Advocate Pujya Hari Shankar Jain is also representing the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case in Varanasi.

  1. In the petition, the petitioners have also submitted 109 Hindu pieces of evidence/symbols to support their claim that the Taj Mahal is ‘Tejo Mahalaya’, a structure dedicated to Deity Shiva. Through this petition, they have challenged an earlier order of the Agra District Court, which had refused to permit a survey to verify the Hindu symbols inside the Taj Mahal.
  2. The case was originally initiated in 2015. At that time, a civil suit was filed before the Agra Civil Court claiming that the Taj Mahal complex was in fact Tejo Mahalaya, the Tejoling Mahadev Temple, where Bhagwan Mahadev Nagnatheshwar is enshrined. The suit also sought permission for Hindus to offer worship inside the Taj Mahal.
  3. Subsequently, in 2019, the petitioners filed another application seeking an inspection of the Taj Mahal and the appointment of an Advocate Commissioner to photograph the structure and prepare a video recording of it. However, the court rejected the application, stating that the petitioners had failed to produce revenue records establishing the identity of the Taj Mahal.
