Kanal Kannan arrested by DMK Govt

Chennai – Kanal Kannan was arrested here after he posted a video on social media that showed a pastor dancing with a young girl who was dressed in short-fitting clothes. The action was taken following a complaint by Austin Bennett, a leader of the ruling DMK (Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam). Kannan is a stunt master in South Indian films. With this video, Kannan had also written, “this is the true state of foreign religious culture. Converted Hindus should think about this and feel remorse”.

Hindu Munnani organisation has opposed Kannan’s arrest. This organisation held a protest in front of the Police station. Elangovan, State Spokesperson of the organisation, said that the video for which Kannan was arrested has already been circulated on social media. His arrest is an attack on freedom of expression. DMK is playing politics. Everyone who thinks differently than DMK’s ideology is being harassed.

Interestingly, Kannan was also arrested last year for his remark against rationalist leader Periyar EV Ramasamy. The Madras High Court had later granted conditional bail to Kannan.
