Kathmandu (Nepal) – Former Prime Minister of Nepal and President of Nepal Samajwadi Party Baburam Bhattarai tweeted, “The controversial mural of ‘Akhand Bharat’ in the recently inaugurated new Parliament building of India may stoke unnecessary and harmful diplomatic row in the neighborhood including Nepal. It has the potential of further aggravating the trust deficit already vitiating the bilateral relations between most of the immediate neighbors of India. It would be prudent for Indian political leadership to unravel and communicate in time the real intent and ramification of this mural episode.”

Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also opposes

India-hater and China-lover former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has also objected to the mural of ‘Akhand Bharat’. He said that the Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kumar Dahal Prachanda, who is currently on a visit in India, should protest against the inclusion of 2 Provinces of Nepal in the mural of ‘Akhand Bharat’.

Editorial perspective

The mural of ‘Akhand Bharat’ displayed in the new parliament shows the undeniable history of India. The regions shown in the mural are of ‘Akhand Bharat’, and not of the current territories. It is ridiculous if anyone is displeased with such portrayal.
