Nashik (Maharashtra) – A dress code is being implemented for devotees in many temples in Maharashtra. On this, NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal made a statement in a press conference that “imposing dress code in temples is stupidity”. “It is stupid to enforce such a dress code even for temple-going school children,” he blabbered.

Bhujbal also criticised the religious rituals performed in the new Parliament building. He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed religious rituals while inaugurating the new Parliament building. Parliament is the temple of democracy. If religious rituals were performed at Ram temple, Shiva temple there is no problem but it was wrong to do so in the temple of democracy which represents all countries.”

Aren’t the temple priests half-naked ?

Bhujbal said, “Aren’t the temple priests half-naked ? The Priests who are open inside the temple should wear Sadara(shirt) first. Even if they wear Tulsimala around their neck, one can recognise that this is a priest.” (It’s a pity that some people don’t even know the basic difference between a ‘Sovale’ (silk or cotton dhoti to be worn during puja) and short clothes. Such thinking is ideological bankruptcy. – Editor)

Editorial Viewpoints

  • Chhagan Bhujbal, who shows his own intellectual bankruptcy by making statements about Hindu Dharma without the slightest knowledge about it, is making fool out of himself. From this, the wise citizens know who is doing silliness.
  • It is no surprise that those who oppose the worship of Shri Saraswati Devi in schools oppose the dress code in temples.
  • In the 1980s, after Dalits took out a march at Hutatma Chowk, those accused of purifying it by sprinkling cow’s urine are making such statements, which is absurd.
