Sydney (Australia) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Australia on 9 July. A few days before the visit, he received a death threat from a Facebook account named ‘Abu Mustafa’. The Australian Federal Police are investigating the threat.
According to a report by The Australia Today, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to attend the ‘Melbourne Meets Modi’ event at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on 9 July. The threat was posted in the comments section of a Facebook post providing information about the community event.
While posting the comment, Abu Mustafa wrote, “It would be better to keep the stadium roof closed during the event; otherwise, Modi is coming to Australia to meet his death.”
According to Australian media reports, threats made against the head of any country are treated with the utmost seriousness by Australia’s law enforcement agencies. Security arrangements for international visits by dignitaries involve multiple agencies, including the Australian Federal Police, State Police and specialised protective security units.
