It is beneficial for men to urinate sitting down : Urology experts

New York (US) – Men are often seen urinating and standing up. Also, men have the option to urinate standing up in public restrooms. According to foreign experts, it is more beneficial for men to urinate while sitting.

1. Doctors in the Netherlands have found that peeing while sitting down could be beneficial, especially for men who suffer with prostate issues. This is because it allows them to pee with greater force than they would if they were standing up. If you stand up, the doctors say that your muscles are stimulated in your pelvis and spine. When people sit, pelvic and hip muscles are relaxed. This makes urination easier.

2. Professor at the Urology Department of the University of California Dr Jesse Mills said that for men, who face trouble in standing for long periods of time, urinating while sitting can prove to be a good alternative. There are many people who feel that their bladder does not become empty completely, so they prefer to urinate while sitting down.

3. Prof Stergios Stelios Doumouchtsis, a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist previously said, “If the bladder is not emptying properly, it may cause stasis of urine [also known as urinary retention] and result in infections or bladder stones. Because infections can result in sepsis, or kidney infections, if you have symptoms of incomplete bladder emptying, it needs to be checked by a specialist.” Symptoms include a slow stream of urine, straining to urinate, intermittent stream, double or multiple voids in a sequence and taking a while for urination to start.
