An ophthalmologist, Hindu doctor Birbal Janani, was killed by unknown gunmen

Karachi (Pakistan) – An ophthalmologist, Hindu doctor Birbal Janani, was killed by unknown gunmen on 30th March. He was retired as Director of Karachi Municipal Corporation. The Police termed the incident as ‘Targeted killing’.

  1. Dr Janani and his assistant doctor were on their way to Gulshan-e-Iqbal from Ramaswami when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle. After being hit by bullets, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wall. Dr Janani died on the spot, while his aide sustained bullet injuries. Kamran Khan, the Governor of Sindh, has expressed grief over the incident. He has sought a report from the Police.
  2. Earlier, Dermatologist Dr Dharam Dev Rathi was also killed. He was killed by his driver Hanif Leghari. Hanif was angry that Rathi had celebrated Holi with his friends before the murder. Hanif slit throat of Dr Rathi with a knife.
