New Delhi – The Delhi Police have arrested Ratan Lal, Associate Professor in the Hindu College of the Delhi University, for making objectionable statements on Facebook regarding the Shivling found in the Gyanvapi Mosque complex. He was released after paying the recognizance of Rs. 50,000.

Ratan Lal has been punished under sections 153A and 295A of the Indian Criminal Code. Previously, Ratan Lal had written a letter to PM Modi for granting him security, as he was getting death threats. It has not been known what was the content of Ratan Lal’s Facebook post. The student councils from the University, having a communist mindset, have protested against the arrest of Ratan Lal.
