Fearing capture, they threw the beef into a canal and pelted stones at the villagers

Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): Two Muslim sisters, Muskan Khan and Rubiya Khan, were caught red-handed by the villagers of Lohi while smuggling beef. Realising that they had been surrounded by the villagers, they threw a bag full of beef into a canal. They also pelted stones at the villagers. In the incident, Anand Singh Baghel, a farmer and a worker of a Hindu organisation, sustained serious head injuries. The police, who arrived at the scene, arrested both sisters. With the help of the villagers, the police recovered the beef from the canal and sent it to a laboratory for examination. The police said, “Further action will be taken only after the report on the seized meat is received.”
The people of Lohi village had suspected the two sisters of beef smuggling for the past several days. Therefore, the villagers chased them and tried to stop them; however, the sisters did not stop and instead sped away on their motorcycle.
