Install and consecrate Shri Ganesh Murtis made of clay : Prime Minister Modi

Appeal not to purchase Murtis made of Plaster of Paris

New Delhi: In a recent edition of his monthly ‘Man ki Baat’ programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the public to install environment-friendly Shri Ganesh Murtis made of natural clay instead of Plaster of Paris during the upcoming Ganeshotsav. He also noted that although Ganeshotsav is still a few months away, the work of making the Murtis has already begun.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said,

“I appeal to all of you to ensure that the Murti of Ganpati Bappa installed in your home, housing complex or neighbourhood is made from the soil of our own country and crafted by the hands of our own potters and local artisans.”

Murti makers should give priority to making clay Murtis

Prime Minister Modi further said,

“I appeal to those who make Shri Ganesh Murtis to give priority to making clay Murtis. I also request buyers to verify what material the Murti is made from and in which country it has been made. Do not buy Murtis made of Plaster of Paris at all. I am confident that during this Ganeshotsav and every festival thereafter, you will give serious thought to these matters and take steps in the national interest.”

Clay Murtis dissolve naturally in water, thereby protecting water bodies !

Prime Minister Modi further said, “After the immersion of Shri Ganesh Murtis, they dissolve naturally in water. This helps protect rivers, lakes and the entire aquatic ecosystem.”
