35,000 temples and mosques lowered the volume to permissible levels
Lucknow (UP) – 11,000 loudspeakers have been removed from religious places in UP, while 35,000 temples and mosques have lowered the speaker’s volume to permissible levels. For the last four days, Police have been actively working on it. After the State Government directed the District Administrations to take immediate action against the noise of loudspeakers by 30th April, a campaign against loudspeakers was launched in the State.

Last week, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had a meeting on the subject, with the senior officials. He said everyone has the right to adhere to their religious belief, but it should not cause harm to others. There is no problem with using loudspeakers, but the sound should be limited to the premises of those religious places only. It should not bother other people, he said. After that, the Home Department officials had discussions with Hindu and Muslim religious leaders. During the talks, everyone agreed to reduce the volume of loudspeakers at temples and mosques.

Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, the Imam of the Idgah in Lucknow, said, all Sunni mosques have been asked to lower the volume and make sure that the sound does not come out of the mosque.
