Kolkata (Bengal) – Trinamool Congress and BJP activists clashed during a function marking the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas. BJP MP Arjun Singh’s bodyguards opened fire in the air to save him. The Police resorted to lathi-charge to bring the situation under control.

The Police informed that Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh was attacked following which the scuffle started between the activists of both the parties. The Police evacuated him from there and took him to a safe place. Two four-wheelers and a Police vehicle were vandalised during the violence.

Regarding the incident, Arjun Singh said, “Stoned were hurled at me by Trinamool Congress workers in front of the Police and my car was also vandalised.” (Stone pelting at an MP in front of the Police is a disgrace to the West Bengal Police. – Editor)
