‘Travancore Devaswom Board’ accepts using Halal-certified jaggery for the prasad in Sabarimala Temple

• Why is Halal-certified jaggery used for the prasad in a famous Hindu temple ? It is an anti-Hindu move and treachery with the devotees. People responsible for this should be arrested and jailed. Hindus and Hindu organisations should take initiative for this.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – Halal-certified jaggery is used in the Sabarimala Temple for making the prasad of ‘Aravana’ and ‘Appam’. At the time of the hearing of a petition in this case, the Kerala High Court ordered the chief priests of the temple to express their opinion. The petitioner, SJR Kumar, member of RSS, demanded the opinion of the priests to be presented.

‘Travancore Devaswom Board’ which looks after the management of the world-renowned Temple, said that ‘Halal’ was written on the packets of jaggery used for making prasad and it is exported from Arab countries. This jaggery is being used for years. The jaggery was tested in September 2021 and it was not found worthy of human consumption. After this, the jaggery was auctioned to an organisation preparing animal food.

The ‘Travancore Devaswom Board’ has accused SJR Kumar of providing false and baseless information. The Board is facing financial problems as the sale of ‘Avarana’ and ‘Appam’ has been stopped. (We can consider this to be a punishment for the ‘Travancore Devaswom Board’. The Board members should learn their lessons and not hurt the feelings of Hindus in the future. – Editor) Anant Gopal, a senior Minister in the ruling CPI(M) Kerala Government, said that the rumours have been spread to disgrace the Temple and reduce the sale of prasad. “We are taking the help of the cyber cell to file a petition against such people”, he added. (This is a preposterous statement since the Board has accepted this in the Court. Action must be taken against Ministers who are misguiding people. – Editor)
