Beijing (China) – Although China is the most populated country, the statistical numbers show that the birth rate in China has been consistently plummeting. The birth rate in 2020 was recorded as 8.5 per thousand people, which is the lowest since 1978. This claim was made by the report published recently in the newspaper ‘The Guardian’. This report states the reference of the statistics given by the Governmental Department ‘The National Bureau of Statistics of China.’

Even after relaxing the ‘One-Child Policy’ in China, people are not willing to have more children. China’s youth population is declining fast, and the birth rate is also low. This has worried the China Government. The report mentioned by ‘The Guardian’ does not state the reasons for a low birth rate, but demographers noted the declining number of women of childbearing age and the rising cost of raising a family.
