Anti-Hindu comedian Munawar Faruqui’s show in Goa cancelled after devout Hindus submit memorandum

Additional District Collector Mamu Hage (On right) receiving a memorandum from devout Hindus

Panaji (Goa) – Munawar Faruqui, a self-proclaimed comedian from Gujarat, who has the habit of constantly deriding Hindu Deities, was to stage his show titled ‘Dongri to Nowhere’ in Goa on 15th November 2021. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) met the Additional District Collector Mamu Hage of North Goa and Caculo Mall’s Manager in this connection and demanded through a memorandum to cancel this programme so as to maintain social and communal harmony. Caculo Mall Manager later informed HJS that the programme had been cancelled.

The memorandum was submitted by a delegation of HJS comprising Mr Satyavijay Naik (of HJS), Mr Jayesh Thaly (of ‘Gomantak Mandir Mahasangh’) among others. A copy of the memorandum was submitted to Deputy Superintendent of Police and Police Inspector of Panaji Police Station.

The memorandum stated that in a similar programme held at ‘Monroe Café’ in Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Munawar Faruqui had made very objectionable statements about Hindu Deities and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He was arrested by the Police at that time and was in jail for 37 days. Even earlier, stooping to a low level, Faruqui has criticised Hindu Deities through his programmes. He has passed controversial comments on CAA, massacre of ‘Kar-sevaks’ at Godhra, etc. and videos of these available on YouTube even today.

We don’t want an artist like Munawar Faruqui who hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus ! : Jayesh Thaly

Given the coming Goa Assembly elections the political atmosphere in Goa is charged. Programmes which spread Hindu-hatred are especially being organised during this period. The common man, therefore, feels whether concerted efforts are being made to create a rift between religions. Earlier, anti-Hindu painter MF Husain had drawn nude paintings of Hindu Deities and hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. Every artist should use art to create awareness in people about Dharma, but art is being used as a medium of denigration. It can indirectly have an adverse effect on our future generations. Programmes like Faruqui’s are an attempt to destroy the religious sentiments and faith of Hindus.

We do not want an artist like Munawar Faruqui in Goa who is known for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. The Goa Government bans a staunch Hindu like Pramod Muthalik (Shriram Sena Chief), then why is Munawar Faruqui allowed to hold programmes though he is known for making controversial statements ?

The Government, Police machinery and Caculo Mall management should immediately cancel this programme and not make people take to the streets to protest.
