Editorial comment

  • While Hindus lawfully demand legal action when Hindu temples are attacked, the minorities retaliate by taking the law into their hands when their religious places are attacked.

Dharmanagar (Tripura) – During a rally organised by Vishva Hindu Parishad in Rowa Bazar of Panisagar Subdivision in Dharmanagar District a mosque was attacked by the mob. In response to this, thousands of religious fanatics took to the streets at Kadmatala and attacked Hindu temples, shops and vehicles. In retaliation, the mob tried to attack a mosque, which was stopped by the religious fanatics.

After the attack on the mosque in Rowa Bazar, Muslims organised protest rallies in many places and demanded protection for the Muslims. They also cordoned off the Irani Police station of Kailashahar. Hence, due to religious violence, prohibitory order under Section 144 was enforced by the Administration in the Panisagar sub-division of Dharmanagar District and Kailashahar sub-division of Unokti District.
