Bangladesh : 683 along with prime accused arrested in case of violence against Hindus

India should pressurise Bangladesh to hand out strict punishment.

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – In the case of violence against Hindus during Navratri, 683 religious fanatics have been arrested so far. The Police have arrested the prime accused Mamun Mondal based on the secret information they had received. Mamun Mondal is an activist of ‘Islami Chhatra Shibir’. This organisation is an affiliate of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Local Maulvi Omar Faruk has also been arrested in the case. Earlier, the Police had arrested the key accused Shaikat Mondal who confessed before the magistrate of instigating the communal violence.


Pirganj Police officer-in-charge Suresh Chandra informed that Mamun sprinkled petrol and lit the fire. The Police have arrested 11 more people including a Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader in connection with the violence.
