Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) – The Barghashikha Bhavani temple in the Mattan area of Anantnag was attacked and vandalised by unknown persons on 2nd October in the afternoon. A special investigation team has been set up to probe the matter.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Piyush Singla said efforts would be made to maintain social and religious harmony here. Such incidents will not be tolerated. The guilty will be punished. (Basically, the Police should make an effort to prevent such incidents. – Editor)

National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has condemned the incident in a tweet. The culprits should be severely punished, he said.
