DMK Government planning to appoint non-Brahmin priests in 36,000 Hindu Temples in Tamil Nadu

BJP criticises the move

  • How come the Government appoints priests in Hindus’ temples ? Has it ever appointed Imams/Maulvis in mosques or a pastors in church ?
  • In future, will the Government also decide which Deity to be installed in the temple or which festival to celebrate ?
  • Government takeover of Hindu temples has resulted in such a situation. Hindus should unite and stop the Government takeover of temples.
  • O Hindus, be determined to establish the Hindu Rashtra to stop incidents where decisions regarding temples are taken against the spiritual science

Chennai – The MK Stalin Government of Tamil Nadu has announced the appointment of 200 non-Brahmin priests in 100 days. Soon a 100-day ‘Shaiva Archak’ course will start, after which anyone can become a priest. The appointments will take place in 36,000 temples under the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department (HR&CE). The first list of 70-100 non-Brahmin priests will be released in a few days. The BJP has said that the foundation of the DMK party is based on the core idea of anti-Hinduism. Will the Government take control of a mosque or a church in similar way ?

1. State BJP vice-president KT Raghavan said, ‘The Government wants the mantras to be spoken in Tamil. How is this possible ? DMK is creating differences among Hindus for political gains’.

2. DMK MP Kanimozhi said,“Why the BJP, which claims itself to be the protector of Hindus is siding with only one class ?” (Kanimozhi should tell why does the atheist DMK always take anti-Hindu stand ? – Editor)

3. Professor Manivannan of Madras University explained that the fight for non-Brahmin priests was old. When Periyar raised the issue in 1970, the DMK Government ordered the appointment. In 1972, the Supreme Court stayed the order. In 1982, the then CM MG Ramachandran constituted the Justice Maharajan Commission. The Commission recommended that persons of all castes be appointed priests after training.
